The Little Mission

A few years ago I felt a strong tug in my heart to take a “gap year” to discern God’s will for my life.  Conversely, I also felt conflicted as a colleague warned me, “If you quit and leave your career now, you will lose your place in line.  Do not get out of line.”

I came to realize while in prayer that there isn’t only one line in life.  We are all standing in some kind of line.  I asked myself, if I remained in this line, what would I see by the time I got to the front.  Would it have been what I hoped for?  Would it have been worth spending my life in this line?  The answer was a resounding “no.”

The only line that I wanted to get in was the one that would lead me to heaven.  But I didn’t want to stand in that line alone.  I had a fervent desire to encourage others to join me in this line, too.  So I took the leap of faith, quit my job, and got out of the line I spent so many years standing in.

Having worked in the fashion industry all my life, I had hoped to bring my love of beautiful things into something that would glorify God.  I had often wondered why it was so common for people to prepare for physical injuries with first-aid kits yet overlook the dangers of spiritual attacks.  As a result, I felt called to curate something that was both compact and purposeful, something that could be taken anywhere and everywhere.  Something that someone would treasure for themselves and also feel proud to gift to loved ones.  In 2023, that vision became a reality and My Prayer Kit was born.

Life is hard. Walking the narrow path is harder. Climbing the mountain of holiness is even harder. Along this journey, we need God.  I know that I cannot walk this path without Him.  My Prayer Kit is a gentle reminder to invite God to go on life’s adventure with us, one step at a time.  Whether we’ve fallen or made a detour, Jesus is always there to guide us back and to encourage us to Begin Again.

Sometimes we think that we are too little to make a difference in this big world but God has consistently shown us the power in little things. Think about David conquering Goliath, the mustard seed of faith, the baby in the manger, and Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Thank you for joining me on this little mission of spreading Christ’s light through these little pouches that hold little treasures inside, for little does not define impact.

Let us pray for each other so that we may all choose to stand in the line that leads to heavenly glory and by the grace of God become saints when we’ve crossed that finish line.  God bless you and love you!
